Barbara Raleigh Designs

jewelry designer, visual merchandiser, conceptualist

I am starting my own line of jewelry: Barbara Raleigh Designs

One collection (Apt. 3GH by Barbara Raleigh Designs) is solely earrings, all unique and one-of-a-kind.  The materials are from Italy and Germany: Semi-precious stones and beads, handmade glass cabs and beads, Swarovski rhinestone chains, laser-etchdleather/ stones/metal parts, laser-cut plastics, and misc non-precious elements. The ear wires are either sterling silver or plated brass: yew gold, pink gold, copper, hematite, black, brown. My inspiration is old world detailing, up-dated with contemporary color combinations in fashion-current silhouettes. Retail Prices range from $55-$350. I will be selling them online on my website and a few other online outlets.

The other collection (name TBD) focuses on and highlights enameled metal forms. Copper foil is shaped into sculptural forms; Heavy sheet copper is formed into discs and geometric shapes. This group consists of Necklaces, bracelets, pins, and earrings...and Wall pieces. The look is modern; my influences are Abstract Expressionist paintings and John Chamberlain sculptures. I expect to exhibit and sell these piecesin art galleries and art/craft fairs.

Apart from the 'jewelry' world, I have started a Tour business with my friend and business partner in Italy. Stile Veneziano offers artistically-minded tourists the opportunity to see areas in the Veneto area of Italy (Venice, Bassano del Grappa, Verona, and Vicenza) and get an insider's access to local artist's studios, palazzos,
restaurants, etc.. We have put together a unique agenda, the first specialized one is to Venice and Bassano, dealing with the artists, designers, craftspeople, technicians in Jewelry, Sculpture, Ceramics, Fabrics, Glassmaking, as well as food and vino.

Not only will it be visually and mentally stimulating, but gastronomically festive. Don't expect to see San Marco's Square or take a gondola tour.
