Freelance Designer/Design consultant: a designer who works as an independent sub-contractor , is not on any company payroll, but who has a group of clients who contract for services on a negotiated basis, by the hour, day, or project 

Per Piece: Work is priced by the piece. This could be a design, a mode, or a finished piece of jewelry 

Per Diem: Work is priced by the day. Client is billed for a days work. Details of said day to by designer and agreed upon by customer.
